The vans help to free up ground ambulance resources throughout the east part of South Zone by transferring low-risk, medically-stable patients.

A new wheel-chair accessible, non-ambulance transfer van is now operating in Taber. The vehicle went into service earlier this month, joining five other NAT vans currently in use in the South Zone of Alberta Health Services. Officials say NAT vans help free up ground ambulance resources by transferring low-risk, medically-stable patients. It was purchased by the Taber and District Health Foundation with funds donated by Frank Cemulini prior to his passing in June. The NAT van service that transported him to Lethbridge for appointments usually came from Raymond and he believed Taber should have one. - Tina Giesbrecht
