A man from Stirling pleading guilty this week in a Lethbridge courtroom to a charge of fraud over $5000. 36 year old Stephan Evanson was charged back in March after Lethbridge Police responded to reports of fraudulent activity at Schwartz Reliance Insurance in October 2016. In an agreed statement of facts, the Crown notes between 2008 and 2016, Evanson created fake accounts, altered existing ones, said he sold or renewed polices when he hadn't, failed to record when policies were changed, entered higher commission percentages and entered commissions more than once. The total amount the business was defrauded is just over $540,000. The case will be back in court next Tuesday (Dec. 5) to set a date for sentencing. - Sam Borsato
