Protestors are gathering at a horse slaughter house in Fort Macleod this afternoon. The protest at Bouvry Exports is one of many being held across the country as participants call for MP's to support Bill C-544 to end what they call cruel horse slaughter forever. Other protests are going on at Bouvry Exports headquarters in Calgary, a butcher shop in Vancouver and a restaurant in Toronto that sell horse meat, as well as in Nanaimo, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Charlottetown, and Halifax. Protestors say horses are beaten, electro-shocked and horrifically slaughtered at these facilities however a recent RCMP investigation found no evidence of intent to cause cruelty at the Fort Macleod slaughterhouse.
