Parkinson Association of Alberta Announces Closure of Lethbridge Storefront Office

A downturn in the economy the past two years has landed an Alberta not-for-profit in a deficit situation, forcing the closure of three offices including the one in Lethbridge. The Parkinson Association of Alberta says despite successful fundraisers like the Flexxaire Parkinson Step 'n' Stride, it hasn't been enough to keep them in the black. The association says it's made the difficult decision to close storefront offices in Lethbridge as well as Medicine Hat and Red Deer effective December 1st. According to a release sent out Wednesday, there will be no loss of service as home offices will be utilized in the communities affected, similar to the format already being used in the Lloydminster Region. The move aims to free up funds that will be directed toward support and services along with deficit reduction. -Tina Giesbrecht/Warren Affleck
