The old southside I.G.A. building is going down sooner than expected. The deconstruction process was scheduled for early next year, with work on the new Community Arts Centre to follow in the spring. But, Lethbridge's Facilities Services Manager, Conrad Westerson says the structure, on 3rd avenue south had to be taken care of sooner. He tells CJOC News the structure was weakened during the asbestos and hazardous materials removal and the site was no longer safe. Westerson says the deconstruction process will take about two months, but adds traffic in the area shouldn't be affected.
