Lethbridge Chamber Hoping City Council Consults Citizens & Organizations on New City Manager

The Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce wants the new City Council to consult "extensively" prior to finding the best candidate to replace retiring City Manager Garth Sherwin.

The Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce says City Council has a chance to be "visionary" in the hiring of a new City Manager. The Chamber is weighing in on the search for a new Chief Administrative Officer, following an announcement by Garth Sherwin a few weeks ago that he will be be retiring in early January. In a letter released by the Chamber, it stresses the hiring of the next City Manager is the single most important responsibility Council faces this term. It's hoping City Councillors will consult "extensively" with citizens and local organizations when it comes to finding the very best candidate. The Lethbridge Chamber says this is a critical opportunity in the life of our City, noting the stakes are high and the consequences and outcomes are profound. Council is hoping to have a new City Manager hired by the middle of next year. - Pat Siedlecki
