Increased Advanced Poll Turnout

Hundreds of people showed up to cast an early ballot for the upcoming civic election.

A huge turnout for the city's first advanced polling date. On Saturday, 374 people showed up at City Hall to cast a ballot. That's up from 245 on the first advanced polling day of the 2007 civic election. Returning Officer Diane Nemeth admits it's difficult to say why so many people came out to vote, but adds it probably has something to do with the Mayor's race. All eligable voters have the option to vote in advance regardless of whether or not they'll be in Lethbridge on election day. Advanced polls will also take place this Friday and Saturday, as well as NEXT Thursday, October 14th.
