City Council Approves Deal With Environment Lethbridge Organization

A new agreement has been ratified between Environment Lethbridge and the City. The deal provides the organization with $300,000 in seed funding over the next three years for a number of programs that are intended to enhance City Operations.

Lethbridge City Council has approved a new fee-for-service agreement with Environment Lethbridge. It's a three year deal that provides the organization with $300,000 in City funding. Spokesman Mike Spencer says Environment Lethbridge has several goals over the next three years including waste diversion, which will be a major focus, especially in the first year. He notes they'll be working closely with the City's Waste and Recycling Department is order to achieve that. Spencer says the money from the City is "seed funding" and Environment Lethbridge plans to do some additional fund raising as well as apply for Federal and Provincial grants. - Bryan Jeannotte
