One of the last paperwork hurdles, on the way to a new community arts centre, has been cleared.
A major step forward when it comes to getting a new community arts centre in Lethbridge. At Monday's regular meeting, council approved a "Memorandum of Understanding" between the City and the University of Lethbridge. Also approved, the expansion of the project to include the U of L Conservatory of Music. As part of the agreement, Alderman Shawn Ward says the University will pay the operating costs for it's space, which is estimated at about $130,000 per year. The projected cost of the new arts facility, on the old downtown IGA property, is just under $21 million.
