Christmas Tree Recycling Program Back for Another Year

Since the program began, about 75,000 trees have been diverted from Lethbridge's landfill.

Lethbridge's annual Christmas tree recycling program returns next weekend. For the past 25 years, the City of Lethbridge and local youth groups have partnered up to ensure Christmas trees are collected and turned into environmentally friendly mulch. Since the program began, about 75,000 trees have been diverted from the landfill. Trees should be placed at your regular garbage collection location -- but away from your cart -- no later than 7 a.m. next Saturday (Jan. 13). All decorations, tinsel, plastic and tree stands should be removed. -Tina Giesbrecht
