A four goal second period powered the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds to a 7-4 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes Sunday night.
The defending Western Hockey League champs came into Lethbridge Sunday night and left with a 7-4 victory over the Hurricanes. The Seattle Thunderbirds blew the game open with four goals in the second period and the Hurricanes just couldn't recover after that. Ryan Vandervlis scored a pair for the Canes in a losing cause, while Josh Tarzwell and Girogio Estpehan added the others. The loss drops the Hurricanes overall record to 7-6 on the season. It was a fairly close game overall, with the T-birds holding a slight 32-31 edge in shots on goal. Special teams were a big factor on the night. Seattle going 3/4 on the power play. The Hurricanes finished the game going 1/3 with the man advantage. The Canes will continue this lengthy home stand Wednesday (Nov. 1) when the Saskatoon Blades come to town.
