Regina Puts Hurricanes on Ropes in WHL Eastern Final

The Pats broke a 3-3 tie in the third period to beat the Hurricanes 5-3 Friday and take a stranglehold lead on the East Final.

The Lethbridge Hurricanes will have to win  two in a row if they want to advance to the Western Hockey League Championship. The Regina Pats breaking a 3-3 tie in the third period of Game 5 to win 5-3 and take a 3-2 lead in the East Final. Josh Tarzwell, Ryan Vandervlis, and Egor Babenko scored for the Canes in this game. Lethbridge held a slight 32-31 edge in shots on goal. The Canes went 1/4 on the power and also had a lengthy 5-on-3 advantage in the third period but couldn't tie up the game. The Pats went 1/2. Game 6 in the series is back in Lethbridge on Sunday at 6:00 pm. A Pats win at the ENMAX Centre would put and end to the series. - Pat Siedlecki
