Hurricanes Lose to Red Deer 4-3 in Double OT; Trail Series 2-1

The Lethbridge Hurricanes blew a 3-1 lead late in the third period on Wednesday en route to a 4-3 double overtime loss in Red Deer in game 3 of their first round playoff series.

The Lethbridge Hurricanes now trail the Red Deer Rebels two games to one in their opening round WHL playoff series following a 4-3 double overtime loss in game 3.  The 'Canes led 3-1 until late in the third, when the Rebels scored twice with 3:07 to go in the final frame, including a goal with just 20 seconds remaining to force sudden death.  Rebels forward Evan Polei would later net the game winning goal 48 seconds into the second overtime period.  The Hurricanes got goals from Tyler Wong, Brennan Menell and Zak Zborosky in the loss and 'Canes goalie Stuart Skinner stopped 45 of 49 shots.  The 'Canes and Rebels will square off again on Thursday in Red Deer for game 4 and the series will shift back to Lethbridge for game 5 on Saturday. - Tom Roulston
