Special Anti-Fraud Seminars Held in Lethbridge

A number of recent fraud and embezzlement cases prompted a special seminar that was held in Lethbridge.
There was an excellent turn out Tuesday for a seminar that was held in Lethbridge to help non-profit organizations protect themselves against fraud. Sergeant Christy Woods of the Regional Police Economic Crimes Unit was one of the speakers. She says it's important for volunteer organizations to take the necessary steps to prevent internal thefts and notes they need to be forceful and introduce policies that make their volunteers accountable. Sergeant Woods says non-profit groups can never be too cautious, and should have a number of safeguards in place to prevent fraud. She says if people with non-profit organizations don't know how to set up safeguards to prevent fraud, there are several resources they can turn to for help, including the police.
