Significant Drop in Homelessness in Lethbridge

There's been a major reduction in homelessness in Lethbridge. The recent Homeless Census conducted this past fall by Social Housing in Action and the City indicates a drop in the overall homeless populaton by 34% since 2010. Dr. Gary Bowie in the Chair of S.H.I.A. and says the 5 year plan to end homlessness in Lethbridge is working. He says the results of the census reflect the aggressive and persistent commitment to the Housing First approach. Over the past year, the Absolute Street homeless has decreased by over 74% and the occupancy rates at the emergency shelter are steadily declining. Bowie says this is the 3rd year into the 5 year plan and homlessness in Lethbridge has been falling each year.
