Protestors Still Camped Out at Castle Special Place

A protest camp at Castle Mountain remains, even as Spray Lake Sawmills plans to start logging in the area.
Protestors remain on site in the Castle Mountain area near Pincher Creek in the hope of preventing logging from happening in the Castle Special Place.Government officials served the protesters a final eviction notice Monday night, but protestor Mike Judd tells CJOC News they don't plan on going anywhere just yet. He says they wil maintain a presence at the site until a court order is given or the RCMP comes and tell protestors they have to leave. Judd says the situation is at a stalemate right now. Protestors had been hoping Premier Alison Redford would put a halt to the planned logging, but she told media in Lethbridge Monday she won't step in. Logging did not get underway Tuesday as some protestors stood in front of machinery to prevent the work from starting.
