Metis Scholarship Fund Created at U of L

A $500,000 gift by the Metis Nation of Alberta helps support a new scholarship fund at the University of Lethbridge.
A new scholarship fund has been set up at the University of Lethbridge for Metis undergraduate and graduate students. The $500,00 gift will, through matching funds, support the creation of a $1 million endowment fund. There is already $25,000 in scholarship money available this year. Audrey Poitras is the President of the Metis Nation of Alberta and says these are more than just gifts of money, they are investments in Metis students. University of Lethbridge President Mike Mahon says the U of L is committed to ensuring Metis studnets have the financial means and opportunities to achieve success in their education and lives. The are approximately 100 Metis students currently enrolled at the U of L.
