A member of the Alberta Liberals wants the provincial government to preserve a special area west of Pincher Creek.

A member of the Alberta Liberals wants the provincial government to preserve a special area west of Pincher Creek. Tourism, Parks, and Recreation Critic Harry Chase says the province has been dragging it's feet for decades on whether or not to declare a portion of Castle Mountain a wildland and Provincial Park.  He says time is running out to do that after a recent decision to allow clear-cut logging. He tells CJOC News instead of sustainable resource management, the Province has basically turned the land over to a logging company.  Chase says the government argues the case of multi-use, but once every tree and shrub in the area is "whacked", there will be no use at all. Chase says because of the Stelmach Government, instead of a pristine wilderness, that area will be more like a tree farm.
