The Media Relations Officer at the University of Lethbridge is running for Alderman. Bob Cooney announced his candidacy Friday afternoon saying he wants to bring a "common sense" and "forward thinking" viewpoint to city council. Cooney says he wants to hear about residents concerns, but adds he's also interested in issues that affect families. Cooney says the University is on board with his decision to run for alderman, adding his schedule is flexible enough to make it work. As of Friday afternoon, Cooney was the 20th person to declare intentions for Lethbridge Alderman. Cooney says he wants to be more involved in how the city operates and help plan for it's future.
