Chief Weaselhead Attends First Nations Summit

Blood Tribe Chief Charles Weaselhead is part of a huge First Nations summit in Ottawa.
The Chief of the Blood Tribe feels progress has been made at a First Nations summit taking place in Ottawa. Charles Weaselhead is at that meeting, which was opened by Prime Minister Stephen Harper. He tells CJOC News that it's important some of the issues that First Nations are facing across the country are challenged and dealt with. Weaselhead says there's only one shared vision by all native leaders and that's to bring a better standard of living to all First Nations across Canada. As for the Indian Act, Weaselhead says the complete termination of the Act warrants a review. He says in some instances the Act may have served First Nations well, but in his opinion, Weaselhead feels it hasn't protected treaty rights and the obligations of the Crown.
