U of L Professor Says Don't Scrap Long-Form Census

A University of Lethbridge sociology professor says scrapping the mandatory long-form census is short-sighted.

A University of Lethbridge sociology professor says scrapping the mandatory long-form census is short-sighted.  Dr.Susan McDaniel, who is also Director of the Prentice Institute was the guest speaker at this week's Southern Alberta Council on Public Affairs on Thursday. She says getting rid of the long-form census could cause major issues down the road.  She says Stats Canada did a test and it clearly showed that scrapping the census would undermine certain populations, minorities, and renters.  Industry Minister Tony Clement claims the long-form census is intrusive, but McDaniel says the majority of Canadians don't feel that way.
