An unusual turn in the case of a Stirling area man accused of attempted murder and aggravated assault.

An unusual turn in the case of a Stirling area man accused of attempted murder and aggravated assault. 49 year old Nicholas Gerard Verwer was charged back in August 2007 after emergency personnel responded to a call and found a man with a gunshot wound. Verwer's two-week jury trial was scheduled to start last week in Lethbridge Provincial Court but had to be adjourned when the complainant died of a drug overdose. The case will be back in Court of Queens Bench on October 25th when it's believed the matter will either be resolved or a new trial date will be set.
