Motorists travelling along Highway 3 West of Barnwell and East of Bow Island, will find signs in the fields and see first hand what a field of sugar beets look like.
You may notice some farm education signs as you roll up and down Highway 3.
The Alberta Sugar Beet Growers and Ag for Life have come together with a project called What's in the Field?" The signs are being placed near roadways across the region to provide a link to information on sugar beets.
Spokesperson Melody Garner-Skiba says the aim is for people to see and understand where the sugar they use comes from. It will also help showcase the role that farm families across Southern Alberta play in growing local sugar that is used across the Western provinces as well as exported to the United States.
