Southern Albertans Honoured For Taking Action Against Violence

Leaders from Calgary and southern Alberta have been recognized for preventing family violence, sexual violence, child abuse and bullying.

The province recognizing a number of leaders in this region for preventing family and sexual violence, child abuse and bullying. A total of 14 inspiration awards were handed out last Friday to a number of individuals and groups. Community and Social Services Minister, Irfan Sabir says these awards acknowledge community leaders who've set an extraordinary example for those affected by abuse. Two of the locals receiving awards include Milton Iwaasa of Coaldale and John Wenlock of Claresholm. The Lethbridge and District YWCA also received recognition for its Amethyst Project. - Pat Siedlecki
