Thursday, September 9th marked International Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Awareness Day. In Lethbridge, church bells rang 9:09am as a reminder that women should not drink alcohol during the nine months of pregnancy.  Laura Elliott, the local F.A.S.D. Lifespan Team Leader says this is a serious issue, not only in Lethbridge but around the world.  She notes where ever there's alcohol you can have moms drinking and babies can get brain damage and birth defects from that.  This is the 11th annual Awareness Day for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. Elliott says F.A.S.D. is preventable.
