Sentencing Set for June for Historic Sex Crimes Case

A Raymond man convicted in a historic sex crimes case will learn his fate in just over a month.

A judge found the 50-year old guilty of three counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault in March. The man cannot be named since the offences happened when he was a teen in the 1980s, and also to protect the names of the victims.

The man testified during his trial that he did, in fact, touch three of the victims inappropriately, but denied that an assault against a fourth victim took place.

The Crown is seeking between six to 12 months of custody and one year of probation to follow, while the defence says a suspended sentence with a "moderate" probation term would be appropriate.

The man's sentencing is set for June 5 in Lethbridge Provincial Court.
