The planned redevelopment and expansion of Lethbridge Exhibition Park is estimated to cost a pretty penny.
Lethbridge Exhibition Park rolled out more information Wednesday about it's long-awaited and planned revelopment and expansion project. The cost is estimated to be just under $91 million and includes a larger space for tradeshows, meeting and convention space, multi-use rooms, a large agriplex, and more. General Manager Rudy Friesen says it's not a cheap undertaking. He says there need to be a lot of involvement to cover the capital cost including Exhibition Park itself and all levels of government. The next step is to ask Lethbridge City Council to include the plans in the next 10 year Capital Improvement Program. Friesen says the relationship with the City is very key on a project like this. He says the community engagement process will take place in June and July of this year. A project like this would create up to 700 full-time jobs after construction. Friesen says if it's a go, planning would take about year and another three years after that for the actual construction. - Pat Siedlecki
