Police Charge Lethbridge Man With Attempted Murder of His Own Parents

A 28 year old Lethbridge man is facing serious charges, accused of trying to kill his parents in their west side home on the weekend.

Lethbridge Police have charged a 28 year old man with the attempted murder of his parents. One Sunday (Feb. 11)  just before 3:00 am, police responded to a report of an assault at a west side home. Investigation determined a 72 year old man and a 62 year old woman had been asleep in their bedroom when their son entered the room and stabbed them before fleeing the home. The male suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital where he was treated and released. The woman was treated on scene by EMS. Police located the couple’s son a short distance away and he was arrested without incident. The son, who police will not identify in order to protect the identity of the victims, is charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of aggravated assault. Following a Judicial Interim Releasing hearing, the accused was remanded in custody and will make his first court appearance on February 14. He was also ordered to undergo a psychiatric assessment prior to appearing in court. No further details or information will be released. - Lethbridge Police Release
