Pharmacist Charged With Stealing & Trafficking Narcotics From Okotoks Pharmacy

A 52 year old woman from Calgary is accused of stealing over 33,000 tablets of narcotics from the pharmacy she worked at in Okotoks.

A pharmacist who works in Okotoks has been charged with trafficking drugs. RCMP in that southern Alberta town say they were contacted in October by loss prevention officers at a grocery store about a significant amount of narcotics which had been diverted from the pharmacy. Mounties started investigating and say pharmacy records showed over 33,000 tablets of narcotics were stolen from the Okotoks Safeway pharmacy by an employee over a five year period. 52 year old Leanne Rogalsky of Calgary is facing numerous charges, including fraud. She's accused of creating fake patients and logging fake prescriptions under their name, then taking the narcotics from the pharmacy. Rogalsky will appear in court in Okotoks later this month. - Pat Siedlecki
