MD of Pincher Creek Releases Debrief of its Response to Kenow Wildfire

A debrief of how the Municipal District of Pincher Creek responded to the Kenow Wildfire has been released to the public.

A debrief of how the Municipal District of Pincher Creek responded to the Kenow Wildfire has been released to the public. The report concludes that senior municipal administration was not getting the information it needed from the fire front line in a timely fashion and that the information did not clearly represent the magnitude of fire and speed at which it was moving toward the MD. According to the debrief, the loss of council chambers to Parks Canada also seriously hampered the MD's ability to establish an Emergency Operations Centre of its own. The goal of the 43 page report, as compiled by Kenneth Kendall Consulting, is to create a learning opportunity and to better prepare those involved for the next event. The Kenow Fire post-incident debrief is available on the MD of Pincher Creek website https://mdpinchercreek.ab.ca/news/Municipal-District-of-Pincher-Creek-Kenow-Fire-Debrief  -Tina Giesbrecht
