UPDATE: Man Arrested in Connection to High Risk Incident in West Lethbridge

A 32 year old Lethbridge man is facing charges after a high risk incident in the city which ended following police chase near Granum.

Charges are pending against a 32 year-old Lethbridge man in connection with a targeted incident where several shots were fired at a west side home Sunday night (Apr. 15). Around 9:00 pm. police responded to a 911 report that a male had fired several rounds into a home along Heritage Boulevard. Frontline officers responded along with members of the Tactical Team. Four people escaped from the home safely and the area was cordoned off as police attempted to determine the whereabouts of the suspect. Members of the Tactical Team entered and searched the residence but the suspect was not located. After clearing the home police re-located to a second location along Dalhousie Court.

 

Following further investigation it was confirmed the suspect fled in a vehicle and had left the city. RCMP were notified and at approximately 1:45 a.m. members of the RCMP Emergency Response Team located the suspect. A pursuit ensued and the suspect later pulled over near Granum and exited his vehicle. He refused to obey police direction and was attempting to re-enter the vehicle when he was taken to the ground by officers. There were no injuries to police or the suspect. The male and his vehicle were transported back to Lethbridge and he remains in custody at this time.

Investigation is ongoing. This incident was a targeted crime and the parties involved are known to one another. A further release will be issued as the investigation progresses and charges are sworn.
