"Let’s Not Celebrate Sin": Petition Condemns Taber Pride Flag

An online petition is urging Taber-Warner MLA Grant Hunter to intervene in a decision that would allow the rainbow pride flag to fly at Taber's provincial building in June.

The petition on Change.org, started by an un-named person, states that Christians view homosexuality as a sin, and that the rainbow is a Biblical symbol of God's unchanging covenant faithfulness which should not be used to represent non-Biblical actions.

The petition has a goal of gaining 1000 signatures.

In a response posted to Facebook, the Taber Equality Alliance says it has reported the petition as hate speech and asked Change.org to remove it. The alliance stresses that "Pride is a peaceful protest," and this is another reason why it's so important.

Our radio station has reached out the office of Grant Hunter, however, we have not yet received a response.
