Conservative Rachael Harder says if Justin Trudeau wants to talk about male construction workers having a negative impact on rural communities, he should look no further than the person in the mirror.
A local Member of Parliament has hammered the Prime Minister over comments he made at the recent G-20 summit in Argentina.
Last week, Justin Trudeau suggested there are gender impacts when you bring male construction workers into rural areas. "There are social issues, how are you adapting to those?"
In the House of Commons Monday (Dec. 3) Lethbridge MP Rachael Harder took exception to those comments. She says those male construction workers are helping build the economy and local communities.
"Mr. Speaker, if the Prime Minister wants to talk about men who have negative impacts on rural communities, he should look no further than the person in the mirror. My riding and indeed all of Canada, would benefit greatly Mr. Speaker if he addressed the problem starring back at him."
Those comments drew a round of applause from opposition members. Harder says these hardworking men make a positive impact in our local communities, not what Trudeau is suggesting.
