Albertans are well on their way to facilitating better health outcomes with the recent launch of Prescribe It, Canada's national e-prescribing service, in Lethbridge.
Lethbridge the first community in Alberta to use Canada's national e-prescription service called Prescribe It. Pharmasave and Family Medical Centre are the first two in the city to start using the service followed by Wood Dispensary, Legacy Medical Centre and London Drugs. Canada Health Infoway President, Michael Green says the Prescribe It launch in Lethbridge is an important step in helping health care providers deliver better care for patients. Prescribe It enables the transmission of a prescription between an electronic medical record and a pharmacy of the patient's choice. Over the next several weeks, e-prescribing will be available at a number of other pharmacies around Lethbridge as well including Skelton Parkmacy, Stokes Pharmacy, Chinook Rx, and Save-On-Food pharmacies. The Alberta College of Pharmacists says Prescribe It will be the accepted method for electronic prescribing in Alberta. As per previous communication, electronic signatures outside of Prescribe It are not acceptable. - Pat Siedlecki
