The numbers can be a little misleading, but Lethbridge's new housing market remains strong. Year-over-year numbers for August show the total number of single and multi-family dwellings actually declined 45%. However, President of the Lethbridge region of the Canadian Homebuilders Association, Jean Greer-McCarthy says there's always fluctuations with projects so year to date numbers are more accurate. She tells CJOC News that homebuilding locally is right on track and in fact, they expect an 11% gain over last year once 2010 comes to a close. Greer-McCarthy says fluctuations have to do weather, land availability, and what happens to the surrounding communities where project developments have now wrapped up.
