The City of Lethbridge has secured a naming rights sponsorship deal with a local firm that will provide $100,000 toward the cost of a new skatepark. City Council gave ten year agreement with SLP Industries unanimous approval at Monday's meeting. Skatepark Association President Sam Richards says the deal moves the project one step closer to construction. He says the group is getting close to the end of it's fundraising efforts with the realistic possibility of the project getting underway this year. Under the agreement, the City will provide a $100,000 interest-free loan to the skateboard association to cover part of the the construction costs and SLP Industries will repay the loan in $10,000 installments over the next ten years. -Bryan Jeannotte
