A public alert has been issued by Alberta Health Services regarding Hepatitis A and a downtown McDonalds. A food handler at the Scenic Drive and 3rd avenue south location recently tested positive for the disease. Anyone who consumed food or a beverage from that location between August 20th and 22nd may have been exposed. Hepatitis A vaccines will be available to those people at the West Pavilion of the Lethbridge Exhibition between 1pm and 7pm today as well as tomorrow and Sunday from 9am to 3pm. While he believes the risk to the public is low, South Zone Medical Officer of Health, Dr.Lorne Clearsky, says Hep-A is a serious infection and a vaccine administered within 14 days of exposure can greatly reduce that risk.
