A lot of Albertans have been rolling up their sleeves for flu shots this year. The least amount of confirmed influenza cases are here in the south.
Nearly one million Albertans have gotten the flu shot so far this season. As of late last week, just over 998,000 doses were given out at mass clinics, doctors offices, and pharmacies across Alberta
Alberta Health Services says the highest uptake for the vaccine has been in the Calgary region, however so are the most lab-confirmed cases of influenza right now.
Over 1200 of the nearly 2000 flu cases in the province are in the Calgary area. The least amount of lab-confirmed influenza are right here in the south zone at just 76.
There are also now six deaths associated with the flu in Alberta, five are in Calgary.
Flu shot clinics will continue for the next few weeks in communities around the province with the peak of the flu season usually just after Christmas time. You can find dates, times and location on the Alberta Health Services website.
The dominant strain, is by far, Influenza "A".
