The City of Lethbridge is asking residents to be on the look-out for a dangerous weed recently found growing in a local pond. Purple Loosestrife is an extremely invasive plant that is a huge threat to native plant populations in and around wetlands and ponds. Officials say it's beautiful but will out-compete everything else, even the cattails. Purple Loosestrife was found growing along Firelight pond in west Lethbridge. Anyone who spots more is asked to contact the city's Natural Resource Coordinator at 320-3108.
