The 17th annual Bright Lights Festival will kick off the Christmas shopping season in downtown Lethbridge later this month and will now run over two days.
The popular Bright Lights Festival in downtown Lethbridge is expanding to a two-day event this year. It'll take place later this month in Galt Gardens. Ted Stilson with the Downtown BRZ (Business Revitalization Zone) says making this a two-day festival means they can offer even more family-oriented activities. It'll be held November 17th and 18th. This year the Downtown BRZ has partnered with VisitLethbridge.com and the Heart of Our City. The activities that weekend will kick-off on Friday evening (Nov. 17) shortly after the arrival of Santa at 6:30 pm in Galt Gardens Park. A variety of Classic Christmas movies will be shown along with the traditional hayrides, hot chocolate, hot apple cider, coffee, and popcorn will be available. Saturday’s activities (Nov. 18) will start at Noon and will include free hayrides, full-length Christmas movies, ice-carving demonstration courtesy of Foster & Sons Jewellers, Gingerbread house display, Santa’s reindeer paddock and other family-oriented activities. Midnight Madness will also be taking place in conjunction with the Bright Lights Festival. - Pat Siedlecki with files from Downtown BRZ
