Decades Long Christmas Tradition in Lethbridge Comes to an End

It appears that for the first time in 54 years, Lethbridge's annual Christmas Lights Tour won't be going ahead. The event had been organized every year by Steve Kotch, owner of Kotch's Exotic International Travel and Tours. He passed away in March at the age of 73. His son, Fred, tells our radio station that all of Kotch's family lives in California and won't be able to organize any future events, adding Kotch's tour business also closed down after his death. The Christmas Lights Tour typically attracted hundreds of vehicles in a convoy which passed by brightly decorated homes along the route. In years past, Kotch had said it was gratifying to be able to offer local families something free during the holidays. -Tina Giesbrecht
