Cold Weather & Frost Causes Several Watermain Breaks Around Lethbridge

Crews working Monday along 12 Street South

City of Lethbridge crews are working feverishly to fix a long list of watermain breaks which have been caused by the lengthy stretch of cold winter weather.

Lethbridge City work crews are working on numerous watermain repairs across the city caused by the recent cold weather and frost.

The city says due to the unusual volume of watermain breaks over the weekend, some residents are without water. Where possible, the City will supply a truck with temporary potable water.

Crews are working as fast they can to repair the watermains and return water to the affected homes.

The following areas have been impacted:

* 12 Ave. S. from the 15 St. S. to 17 St. S.
* 1200 block between 9A Ave. S. to 9 Ave. S.
* 1100 block of 29 St. S.
* 2100 block of Dieppe Blvd. S.
* 7 Ave. N. to 8 Ave. N. from the 2200 block to the 2300 block
* 500 block of 30 St. N.

There may be lane reductions and road closures in some of these areas. Motorists are advised to drive with caution and follow posted detours.

Repairs are prioritized based on the severity of the watermain break and the number of residents without water. As such, this road closure will remain in place until further notice.
