Chinook Sexual Assault Centre in Lethbridge Now Open

It offers services to all people of all ages, no matter how they identify. Some of those services include crisis support, victim advocacy, and counselling.

Lethbridge's new sexual assault centre is now open to the public.

Kristine Cassie, CEO of the Chinook Sexual Assault Centre, says it's staggering that one in three women and girls and one in six men and boys will experience sex assault in their lifetime.

The new facility, at 740-4th Avenue South, opened its doors Monday (Jan. 7).

It offers services to all people of all ages, no matter how they identify. Some of those services include crisis support, victim advocacy, and counselling.

Chair of the Chinook Sexual Assault Centre Board of Directors, Bill Kaye, says sexual violence has no limits and they want and need to reach out to rural areas surrounding Lethbridge. He notes one identifiable sexual assault centre offering a range of support, lessens further trauma and confusion for victims and their families.

Office hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with evening hours available by appointment. People can also call 403-694-1094.
