A total of 22 drug overdoses in the span of 48 hours last week has the Blood Tribe on high alert.

A warning issued to Blood Tribe residents last Thursday (Nov. 22) outlines that between six to eight vials of Naloxone were required to revive each of those people that overdosed. Unfortunately, one death was also reported last Wednesday (Nov. 21) due to opioids.
Another communication from Blood Tribe Administration urges all tribal members to educate themselves and their loved ones about the dangers of using carfentanil. It also says that naloxone kits are available at the Blood Tribe department of health and at the firehall.
From November 1 to the 22 alone, there have been 39 overdoses on the Blood Reserve.
A state of emergency was declared on the Blood Reserve in March in response to an increasing number of drug overdoses.
