A Calgary man has been charged following a series of dealership break-ins and vehicle thefts in Lethbridge. Last Thursday, just before 10pm, police responded to a report of a break and enter at Dunlop Ford after a man drove a truck into the garage door. Once inside, he got a set of keys, found the F-350 it belonged to and drove away. The suspect then used the stolen truck to drive into the garage door at Bridge City Chrysler and once inside he stole keys to a Fiat Spyder and moved it off the lot. When officers found the suspect in a stolen truck a while later, he rammed the cruisers and took off on Highway 3 where RCMP eventually used a spike belt to disable the vehicle. He took off on foot but was tracked down by an LPS K9 unit. 22 year old Eric Christopher Smith is facing numerous offences and was due in court Monday. -Tina Giesbrecht
