There will soon be a flurry of building activity on the east end of Coaldale.
Construction will be starting soon on a brand new RCMP building in Coaldale
According to the Government of Canada’s tendering website, the tender for the construction project has been awarded to Pomerleau Inc. out of Calgary with a prince tag at just under $12 million.
Town of Coaldale and Coaldale RCMP will be co-hosting a ground-breaking ceremony on Monday, June 10 at the building site at the corner of 19A Avenue and 8 Street, just off of Highway 3 on the east edge of Coaldale.
The RCMP began policing Coaldale in January of 2016 under a new municipal policing contract. For the past three years the Mounties have been operating out of a portion of the Coaldale Town Office which was renovated and retrofitted to serve this purpose.
Mayor Kim Craig says he is delighted the construction project for the new detachment building will soon begin in Coaldale. “We couldn’t be more delighted to see this project moving ahead."
The new facility will become the home-base for the Coaldale RCMP Detachment which includes 17 full-time RCMP members and five administrative staff.
