This region continues to struggle in terms of unemployment with another month-over-month increase in the local jobless rate.
The trend of increases in local unemployment continues.
More and more people locally were looking for work in April as the Lethbridge-Medicine Hat jobless rate increased to 6.4% last month.
That's a jump from 6.1% in March. In fact, the local rate has been inching up every so slightly for the past six straight months.
From a national perspective, the overall Canadian jobless rate dropped to 5.7% with the creation over 100 thousand jobs across the country, most of those full-time positions.
Provincially, Alberta's jobless rate fell in April with the creation of 21,000 new positions.
