Annual Street Sweeping Gets Underway this Week in North Lethbridge

Annual neighbourhood street sweeping gets underway this week.

It's street sweeping season and Lethbridge residents are being reminded to move their vehicles when the no parking signs pop up.

Crews will start in north Lethbridge neighbourhoods Wednesday before moving south and then west.

Senior Bylaw Officer, Dave Henley, says if the street sweepers have to go around your vehicle it's a $30 ticket.

He says the ticket is for parking in an area where there is a temporary parking ban, adding the parking control commissionaire will follow behind the street sweepers and ticket vehicles.

The $30 tickets will be reduced to $15 if paid within seven days.

Street sweeping removes thousands of tonnes of sand, dirt and debris from city roads each year and prevents that material from being washed into the Oldman River via storm drains.
