Police have busted a massive drug operation in Calgary which they believe was involved in dealing drugs and money laundering across Alberta.

A massive drug bust in Calgary has netted police more than four million dollars worth of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine. The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team has been focusing on a drug trafficking organization operating in Calgary for the past year. Police allege the group was involved in wholesale drug distribution and money laundering which spanned across the province. As part of the bust, officers seized a record amount of fentayl, nearly 16,000 pills along with 28 kilograms of meth. ALERT's Mike Tucker tells our radio station investigators believe with that quantity of drugs seized, this bust will have a big impact on several drug markets across the province, including Lethbridge. A total of 11 people, all residents of Calgary, ranging in age from 25 to 39, are facing a long list of drug-related charges. Officers also seized more than $500,000 in cash, two vehicles, and a million dollar mansion located in north Calgary. - Pat Siedlecki
