Air Canada getting a big upgrade in Lethbridge in terms of aircraft.

A local spokesperson for the airline says 50-seat Bombardier Dash 8-300 planes, operated by Jazz Aviation LP, began flying between here and Calgary on May 1.

Those flights take off from Lethbridge three times daily, at 7 a.m., 11:50 a.m and 4 p.m., and come back from Calgary at 10:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Air Canada notes those flights will better align with the connecting bank at the Calgary International Airport. The Dash 8-300 is quite a bit faster, as well, taking about 10 to 15 minutes off the flight.

Previously, Air Canada was serviced locally by the 19-seat Beechcraft 1900 aircraft.
